Dr. Johnson uses dance as a metaphor for leadership, noting that leadership is more than position, charisma or power over others. Dance of Leadership is about knowing your style -- what moves you -- and achieving shared goals by using the right style with followers in appropriate situations effectively. She introduces five leadership styles named using the rhythms developed by Gabrielle Roth: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness.  Flowing and Staccato are more traditional, extraverted leadership styles.  Chaos incorporates insights from new science in turbulent evironments for leaders effecting change is such environments.  Lyrical incorporates research about women's relational leadership style.  And Stillness introduces the power of introverted leadership using concepts familiar to Faith-based and Asian leadership approaches.
